Can't travel to us? Let us come to you.
Ideally, we would love for you to visit our center and for your children to experience our reconstructed buildings in our historical setting. However, we are aware that not everybody can travel to us, so we can come to you!
If you have a suitable outdoor space we can use (please see our site requirements document below) give us a call to discuss what we can offer you.
Our latest program has become very popular. Staff will attend and set up a camp in your classroom. Using a skeleton and grave goods we will create a mock grave. The children will be introduced to the grave and talk about what archaeologists have found. They will then rotate around several activities for the period of history you will be studying before returning to the grave to discuss what else the children can tell us about the person, based on the grave goods, following what they have learnt that day. This outreach program is very popular and early booking is recommended.
In each option below (dependent on numbers involved) the day and the students will be split into two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Each session starts with the students exploring a timeline, taking them back to the period they are studying, The students will then rotate through activities; some will be ATC tutor led and at least one will be led by your school's staff/parents. The session would end with a plenary, and ‘Q&A’ session, time allowing.
We will supply 2 ATC tutors. For up to 30 students, we will run a whole day workshop, for groups of over 30, we will run 2 half-day sessions, working with 20 students in the morning and 20 students in the afternoon. We will require the school to supply a minimum of 3 adult helpers.
The students will rotate through 3-4 activities, dependant on group size; one of these would be led by your schools staff/parents, the remainder would be run by the ATC tutors.
