Our amazing volunteers were awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service 2021, for their exceptional support to the Ancient Technology Centre through the creation and maintenance of the fabulous historic buildings on site. It is hard to believe volunteers built these structures.
Their second Royal Award is the Princess Royal Training award 2023! Awarded by City and Guilds for their outstanding contribution towards training their and other charity volunteers, through skills sharing. You are never too old, or young, to learn new skills and the ATC welcomes new volunteers from all cultures! The only criteria is the willingness to get their hands dirty. You will love it!
We are an outdoor education centre predominantly providing historical experiences to children, linked to the national curriculum. This includes day and residential school visits, Duke of Edinburgh residential weeks, colleges and university field studies, volunteering opportunities and work experience.
We also hire out the site for performances, community meetings, arts and crafts with a focus on teaching historic and rural skills. We are a plastic free community and consciously strive for a very low carbon footprint.
We are open to the public three times a year. March, July and September. Please follow us on Facebook or see our Public Events page.
Our unique site is available for private hire during the week, weekends and holidays. Please get in touch for more details.
